Four Movies to Make You Laugh

Popcorn.png

This blog is a total departure, there are no business lessons, no resource suggestions. I did something this week I really needed to do: I re-watched one of my top four favorite movies.

It's important to laugh out loud, to be entertained, and to see "normal" people find their ways through challenges. These four all-time favorites are older movies which I think are hidden gems. Treat yourself to a break and enjoy.

A New Leaf

starring Walter Mathau and Elaine May

The film was well-received by critics. It received a top rating of four stars from Roger Ebert, who described the movie as "hilarious, and cockeyed, and warm. The entire project is touched by a fine and knowing madness." As of June 2019, A New Leaf holds a rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 34 reviews, with a weighted average of 7.99/10.

The In Laws

with Alan Arkin and Peter Falk

From Wikipedia: "The In-Laws so engaging is not simply the escalating madness of Andrew Bergman's story, but the deadpan counterpoint supplied by the two stars, who navigate their way through mounting disasters with an air of hilariously unjustified rationality. Bergman's script was tailor-made for Falk and Arkin, and they make the most of it."

Tremors

starring Kevin Bacon

From Wikipedia: Tremors was hailed by critics for its diverse cast and humor. "An affectionate throwback to 1950s creature features, Tremors reinvigorates its genre tropes with a finely balanced combination of horror and humor.

Dutch

starring Ed O’Neill

This film bombed at the box office and wasn’t well received by the critics, so it’s likely you missed it. I must have simple tastes because I found it very funny. It has marvelous moments of slapstick that still make me giggle.
